Product Overview
The Intel® Core™ i5 processor delivers the next level of productivity. With Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, this quad-core processor with 4-way multitasking capability delivers extra speed whenever you need it as well as security features to help protect information and data.
Features:
Intel® 64 Architecture
Intel® 64 architecture delivers 64-bit computing on server, workstation, desktop and mobile platforms when combined with supporting software. Intel 64 architecture improves performance by allowing systems to address more than 4 GB of both virtual and physical memory.
Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology
The processor supports Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology (Intel® HT Technology) that allows an execution core to function as two logical processors. While some execution resources such as caches, execution units, and buses are shared, each logical processor has its own architectural state with its own set of general-purpose registers and control registers. This feature must be enabled using the BIOS and requires operating system support.
Intel® Virtualization Technology (Intel® VT)
Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT) makes a single system appear as multiple independent systems to software. This allows multiple, independent operating systems to run simultaneously on a single system. Intel VT comprises technology components to support virtualization of platforms based on Intel architecture microprocessors and chipsets. Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT-x) added hardware support in the processor to improve the virtualization performance and robustness.
Enhanced Intel® SpeedStep® Technology
Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology allows trade-offs to be made between performance and power consumptions, based on processor utilization. This may lower average power consumption (in conjunction with OS support)
Intel® Turbo Boost Technology
Intel® Turbo Boost Technology automatically allows processor cores to run faster than the base operating frequency if it's operating below power, current, and temperature specification limits.
